What is a  Responsible dog owner

 

Walks dog on leash in all areas where leash required

Takes dog to vet for regular checkups as needed and when ever needed

Has dog vaccinated against rabies

Keeps dog clean and well groomed

Trains dog to behave well in public

Has a safe and warm place for the dog to live

Feeds dog appropriate food

Always leaves water out for the dog

Walks dog at least twice a day for a total of one hour

Never leaves dog alone in the house/dwelling for more than 10 hours (younger dog) 6 hours, older dog

Never leaves dog alone in the car in the heat (or for more than 5 minutes at any time)

Has appropriate signage at their home to alert people that there is a dog on the property
